Limewash is a mineral finish, not a paint
Naturally breathable and highly alkaline, limewash helps regulate moisture and creates an environment that discourages mould growth. It contains no harsh plastic sheen, making it ideal for both traditional properties and modern interiors seeking a natural, timeless finish.
Because the finish is mineral and porous, light does not bounce off it the way it does off an acrylic paint. It sinks in, so a single wall reads lighter in the morning and deeper by evening, and the mottling shifts as you move past it. The surface stays matte and chalk-soft to the touch, with the subtle unevenness that comes from pigment and hand application rather than a flat printed colour.

Matured lime putty
Matured lime putty is the heart of real limewash lime that has been slaked and left to mature, giving the finish its soft, chalky body and its mineral character.

Natural clays
Natural clays give the mix its working body, so it can be laid on, worked and blended while it is still open on the wall.

Earth pigments
Earth pigments are the colour of the limewash, ground from the earth rather than mixed from a synthetic dye, so the shade settles into the wall instead of sitting on top of it.

Carefully selected binders
Carefully selected binders hold the lime, clay and pigment together and help the finish bond to the mineral surface it is applied to.

A surface that shifts with the light
Morning light finds the wall cool and quiet, almost chalky. By afternoon the same wall warms and deepens, and the mottling you barely noticed at breakfast reads clearly across the surface. Nothing about the wall has changed only the daylight moving across it.
Because the finish is mineral rather than a film sitting on top, it settles into the wall and softens as it cures. Edges blur, the tone evens out, and the surface keeps a gentle movement instead of reading flat and uniform.
